Ashcombe Shooting Ground
A huge variety of sporting clay stands which can be used on a ‘turn up and shoot’ basis or book in with an instructor to get you connecting with targets most satisfyingly. There is also a Skeet Range to further test the shooting skills. You can also try archery with plans for rifles ranges and more in the works.
With over 30 years of operation, the shooting layouts evolve on a regular basis to keep visitors entertained.
The Sportsman Gun Centre began operating the shooting ground in 2022. There is now an extensive program of investment and improvements taking place which will see new activities and options become available over the next few months. The Ashcombe Estate is the landlord so you will need to book with the Shooting Ground
Instruction
The Shooting Ground offers excellent instruction for novices or experts. Clay pigeon shooting can both rewarding and frustrating so it is good to know what to do.
The Cider Barn and Nut Tree Farm have gun safes should you wish to bring your own shotgun
Pay Shoot
The shooting ground has a huge variety of 78 traps over 28 stands to choose from. They operate on a card system, totting up what you have used during your visit.
There’s a good walk around involved too
Bar
At the end of the day there’s also a club house to meet up for the drink with your team, or meet some of the club members.
This is also the venue for prizegiving when the shooting ground hosts one of many international competitions

The Shooting Ground is open from Wednesday to Sunday but we recommend booking ahead, especially if you wish to use facilities like the high tower as it can get busy
